1986: The Ladies Club Is Founded

Brierwood's longest-running resident organization dates from 1986. It still meets on the third Monday of every month.

In 1986, as new houses were going up across the community, a group of Brierwood women organized a club of their own. The Brierwood Ladies Club has met every month since and marks its 40th anniversary in 2026, which makes it the longest-running resident organization in Brierwood by a wide margin.

The club meets on the third Monday of each month at Shallotte Presbyterian Church, 5070 M.H. Rourk Drive, just outside the community. Annual dues are $20.

Membership is open to all women who live in Brierwood, whether they own or rent. The club makes a point of welcoming newcomers alongside long-standing members, and it holds a number of community events during the year.

The Ladies Club predates the Brierwood Association by more than three decades. When the Association formed in 2017, the Ladies Club was already a fixture, and it is listed today among the groups that exist for the benefit of the community.

Residents interested in joining can reach the club through the contact form on this website.
