Section 1: Brierwood Road, from the Entrance to the Clubhouse

On June 15, 1972 the lots along the community's main road were finally mapped, more than three years after Queen's Grant.

Brierwood Road is the community's main street. It runs from the front entrance to the clubhouse at 27 Brierwood Road, and it is the road most residents drive every day. It is also, on paper, a latecomer.

On June 15, 1972 a map was recorded detailing the residential lots along Brierwood Road from the front entrance to the clubhouse. These lots were called Section 1 of Brierwood Golf Club Estates. The community's records point out, with some amusement, that this map was recorded more than three years after the Section 2 map for Queen's Grant Circle.

By 1972 the first nine holes had been open for a couple of years and lot sales had proven there was demand. Mapping the entrance road made the project look like a community rather than a course with a few houses attached.

The front entrance area mapped in 1972 is the same ground the Brierwood Association's Community Beautification Group maintains today. It is the first thing visitors see, and the volunteers who keep it up are continuing a project that began with a surveyor's map half a century ago.

Together with Queen's Grant Circle, Section 1 completed the first phase of residential Brierwood. The much larger second phase, covering the rest of the community, was only a year away.
