About the Site Creator - Dan O’Shea
Brierwood.info is designed, built and maintained by Dan O’Shea as a service to all Brierwood Estates residents and those looking to move to the community.
Dan was born and raised in the Baltimore, Maryland area and in 2012 moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he met his partner, Sandi Newman, who was born and raised in upstate New York, in Livingston Manor (her mother was born and raised in Manhattan.)
Dan and Sandi started buying older homes and properties shortly after they met to fully renovate older mid-century interior homes to modern floor plans and amenities while keeping the classic exterior look that compliments the community. Areas such as Ft. Lauderdale, Wilton Manors and Pompano Beach in Florida. (www.lumageproperties.com)
In 2021 they moved to Beaufort, South Carolina to be closer to family, Dan's family in Maryland and Sandi's family in Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. There they purchased one of the largest lots in historic Beaufort and a home and completed major improvements on both.
In 2023 Dan and Sandi wanted to be closer to extended family and looked at properties in the southeastern area of North Carolina. It took time but suddenly a home in Brierwood Estates appeared online and they put an offer in, before even seeing it in person.

Dan and Sandi wanted a property with size and a home they could renovate that met their needs, with no HOA. What was most impressive to them was in doing a "Google Street Maps" view, with no HOA, how impressive the residents took pride in taking care of their homes and properties.
They spent their first months living on an air mattress as they lived on plywood flooring while updating the home throughout, the interior and exterior.
Dan and Sandi have two dogs, Georgie (brindle color), a six-year old boxer-lab/labradoodle and Shana (golden color), almost two years old and a "Heinz 57, special," too many breeds to say, a true mix. Georgie thinks she's human, while Shana has no thoughts at all of who she is, she's all dog. As you and we all know, our dogs are special and more family than pets.
You'll see Sandi almost every morning walking Georgie or Shana throughout the roads of Brierwood Estates. Dan sometimes.
Dan volunteered in late 2023 to build a website, in both time and cost, for the Brierwood Estates community for the Brierwood Association. In 2024 the Brierwood Estates Association disbanded and with it the website was not updated.
In the fall of 2026 Dan decided to update the website extensively for the residents. One reason is that Dan is a licensed realtor and in 2026 has seen property values in Brierwood Estates decline for numerous reasons and an owner of the former golf course who continues to change direction on his plans for the property. Dan and Sandi take pride in Brierwood Estates, have never regretted moving here and believe residents deserve better!
The Brierwood Estates website and information reveals how special the community's history is and its residents are. This site is an ongoing community project: a single place for Brierwood Estates residents to find the neighborhood’s history, records, maps, events and a members’ calendar and forum.
Dan pairs the website creation and ongoing updates not only with a background in internet marketing, web development, real estate and photography/video but Dan, Sandi, Georgie and Shana's love for the community.
