The Eleven Conditions on the Permit
Approval came with eleven conditions. In plain language, here is what the owner has to do before the course can reopen.
Special Use Permit 24-12 was approved on March 4, 2025 subject to eleven conditions. The first four concern the plans. The owner must submit a full site and landscape plan application, including the boundary buffering the Town's ordinance requires, and parking must be clearly shown on the plans, especially for phase 2. The phase 2 parking lot and the maintenance building must have impervious pavement.
The fifth requires a building elevation showing the required screening. The sixth requires a lighting plan, particularly for the areas of expanded recreation. The seventh requires the stormwater drainage crossings for the proposed course to be surveyed, and repaired if necessary, with a copy of the survey given to the Town.
The eighth says all required fees must be paid before final zoning approval, and the tenth says all required local, state and federal permits must be obtained, with copies provided, before final zoning approval. The eleventh requires the site to be maintained in accordance with the approved plans.
The ninth is the one with a clock. All required site improvements must commence within 12 months of the March 4, 2025 approval, that is, by March 4, 2026, or the applicant must ask the Board of Aldermen for an extension of up to six months. An extension would run no later than early September 2026.
This website has not been able to confirm whether work began by that date or whether an extension was requested, and golf directories still list the course as closed. The Town's planning office can say where the permit stands.
